Artist Feature: Actress-Anna Elizabeth McGrath

Anna Elizabeth McGrath
Greetings my good people! We are excited to have a milestone here on Jugo Azul vs. Entertainment. We have our first feature of an Actor/Actress. Here at Jugo Azul vs. Entertainment we are dedicated to displaying and featuring talent from all walks specifically the performing arts and it is a great pleasure that Anna has graced us with her presence on the page and her great and vastly practice talent!

A graduate of the University of Cambridge (UK) and the Université de Paris II Panthéon-Assas (Paris), Australian Anna Elizabeth McGrath has been acting professionally in Dublin, Ireland since 2010. Since then she has appeared in numerous theatre pieces, television shows, shorts and feature films  and has performed in three languages including French, which she speaks fluently, and Irish Gaelic.
Anna most recently finished shooting the feature film "The Smoker and the Dame Who Wore Red Shoes" in which she played the lead villain, as well as the forthcoming Irish web series "The Spy Master's Apprentice" in which, funnily enough, she also played the lead villain.
Anna is a very advanced fencer and sailor and fenced and sailed competitively whilst living in Australia.

Anna has just completed a number of short  films which will be entered into Tropfest this year including a mobile  phone short “Capturing Beauty” filmed entirely on Android and iPhone smartphones.
Anna’s first professional acting gig right out of university was in Plastic Theatre’s all-female production of Hamlet. Anna was the youngest member of the cast and played one of the oldest characters, Claudius, for which she received rave reviews.
Anna performed as Marlene in Top Girls at the grand re-opening of the Bailey Bar in Dublin, a very appropriate re-opening as the Bailey Bar is very famously associated with great literature and was a haunt for the literary greats in Dublin.
Anna was cast in the indie horror feature “Railway Children” directed by Jason Figgis and produced by October Eleven Pictures. It opened at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin to rave reviews and has appeared at horror festivals around the world.
In 2012 Anna starred in the Indie feature Venus de Botticelli directed by Guillaume Denier. Anna was cast as the lead role Aphrodite (Venus). The  role of Venus was the first time Anna had appeared in a lead role in a  feature film in which her character didn’t have any dialogue.
This year Anna completed 12 episodes of an Irish web series “The Spy Master’s Apprentice”, a send-up of reality television in which eight young hopefuls vie for a position in the fictional Central European Intelligence Agency. Anna played the lead villain, a turncoat senior Field Agent in the European Intelligence Agency actually working for the bad guys.

Anna most recently finished filming “The Smoker and the Dame Who Wore Red Shoes” www.imdb.com/title/tt2442988/  a feature film set in an apocalyptic futuristic world, directed by Ciaron Davies (The 5th Dimension) and produced by Loose Gripp films. Anna played the lead villain, a Hollywoodesque, replicant-like creature with an Australian accent. The Smoker and the Dame who Wore Red Shoes will premiere in the United States in early 2013.
At the moment she is working on the short film “The Burning of Bridget Cleary” which has director Paul Brady (winner Hollywood Film Festival/Moondance) attached to it and is based on the story of Bridget Cleary, burned alive by her husband in County Tipperary in 1895 as a suspected  faerie “changeling”. Anna is attached to play the minx of a housekeeper to the Clearys whose scheming brings about Bridget’s ultimate demise.
Anna also occasionally models and most recently modelled for  the Irish Haute Couture designer Claire Garvey
